Alan France - Bandsman of year award 2010.
Congratulations to Alan who is without doubt a talented, flexible and all-round multi instrumentalist with a mountain of brass banding history behind him. We hope he will continue to write more history with the Moulton 77 Brass Band.
Alan Started learning to play the Tenor Horn aged 7 in 1937 and with his two brothers eventually became Salvation Army bandsmen. Over the following years he enjoyed and developed as a musician and conductor eventually becoming the Bandmaster of the Hemel Hempstead Salvation Army Band in 1969. He held this position for 32 years before retiring.
The last 3 years, Alan has assisted his son, who is M.D of the Moulton 77 Brass Band, where required on Trombone, Euphonium or Baritone, encouraging and helping younger band members to enjoy their banding.
Previous Winners
Dale Coleman - Bandsman of year award 2008. This year our resident Bass Trombonist Dale Coleman scooped the award. Dale is a well deserving recipient. He not only continues to work hard for the band with his committee work, including organising our first quartet evening along side John Dolphin, another nominated band member. He has also helped settle and form our new Trombone Section. Himself, Alan France and Alice Sawford have worked hard together to restore our Trombone Section from nothing. Dale has also recently re-introduced his son, Martin into the band. Dale is a well deserved winner.
Heather Ellson - Most improved bandsman 2008. Awarded by and comments from Martyn France MD: As 2008 was my first real year of rehearsals, and although a few players moved seats to fill positions, since my taking over as MD, individuals have stood out not only in home practise time, improving sound quality, fitting into their section, but also showing the ability to move onto principal positions when needed. With these improvements in mind, I award Heather Ellson (1st Horn) with Most Improved Player 2008.
Jason Eastaff - Diamond Geezer award! - Awarded for wearing more "bling" than anyone should, and wearing his gloves and hat during practice in the Summer!

Heather Cotter - STRANGEST NOISE FROM AN INSTRUMENT AWARD!
